Andrew Grigg, Head of Sustainable AI at Sopra Steria Next, was recognised at the Digital Leaders Net Zero 2025 Awards on 28 November at the House of Lords, securing 31st place overall.

The Net Zero 2025 Long List celebrates individuals who are driving meaningful action towards the UK’s Net Zero goals, a mission that grows more urgent as climate challenges intensify globally.

Andrew has been a leader in the development and application of sustainable AI, delivering specialist training and embedding sustainable AI practices across Sopra Steria’s UK operations.

Beyond Sopra Steria, Andrew’s influence extends across the public sector. He plays a key role on the Government’s Digital Sustainability Alliance’s AI Working Group and has helped shape cross-government AI sustainability standards. Andrew also led a project with a government department to measure the environmental impact of digital technology, delivering reductions in carbon emissions and supporting the department in meeting its green commitments.

Andrew said: “It’s a real honour to be recognised as a leader in the AI sustainability space. AI is transforming the way we work at such rapid pace and it’s vital we continue to keep the environmental considerations front of mind. I’m proud to work for a company that is committed to being a leader in AI sustainability.”

Fiz Yazdi, UK Managing Director at Sopra Steria Next, said: “This recognition is a true testament to Andrew’s commitment and dedication. With AI and sustainability being such an important aspect for our clients, Andrew is pivotal in helping them identify green priorities and create practical solutions.”

Sopra Steria firmly believes that digital innovation must go hand-in-hand with environmental responsibility. We are committed to working alongside our government and private sector partners to uncover the true impact of AI and to develop practical frameworks that reduce its cost to the planet.
