COP27, the largest annual gathering on climate action, took place last week.

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, and we aim to have a positive impact on the economy, society and the environment. In collaboration with the United Nations 'Climate Neutral Now' initiative, Siva Niranjan (Head of Climate and Environmental Sustainability), and John Moran, (Director of Corporate Finance), took part in One Carbon World COP27 'Be the Change in 2022' podcast, hosted by writer, adventurer and UK TV presenter Ben Fogle.

In the podcast, Siva and John discuss Green Finance and aligning the financial markets with climate action. They discuss our most recent initiative related to our sustainability-linked loan, in which we have indexed a €1.1bn credit line to a carbon footprint reduction target aligned with the Paris Agreement. With the sustainability-linked loan facility, we will be able to strengthen our commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 85% per employee by 2040, as a continuation of Sopra Steria’s low-carbon strategy launched nearly ten years ago, approved by the Science Based Target Initiative.

More about Green Finance

Green Finance plays a critical role in working towards Net-zero and the mitigation of climate change. Investing and financially supporting green projects is key to sustainable development and a greener future. Green finance encourages transparency and long-term thinking of investments flowing into environmental objectives and includes all sustainable development criteria identified by the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By working together, we can develop markets for green financial products that are robust in nature and integrate the risks and opportunities arising from climate change and the environment.

At Sopra Steria, we use our digital innovation skills to drive a sustainable present and future for all.  For the fifth year in a row in 2021, we have been recognised as a world leader in corporate climate action by being included on the A list of the CDP Climate Change ranking.

Sustainability – and tackling climate change in particular – is part of our DNA. We see it as a ‘Business as Usual’ activity, and are committed to supporting the transition to a Net Zero economy for all.
