London, December 18, 2025 – Sopra Steria has gone live with a new debt management service to help the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) recover money that is owed to the NHS.
As an Arm’s Length Body of the Department of Health and Social Care, the NHSBSA delivers a range of national services that support the priorities of the NHS, Government and local health economies - including prescription and dental processing - with over £100 billion of NHS spend flowing through its systems annually.
The new contract was awarded through the Crown Commercial Service Debt Resolution Services (DRS) framework following a competitive tender process. It sees Sopra Steria Financial Services provide debt collection services alongside its strategic partner, QUALCO UK, a specialist provider of panel management and analytics services in collections and recoveries.
Sopra Steria will use cutting-edge technology and data driven insights to support NHSBSA’s debt resolution service. The agreement includes recovering money that is due to the NHS from pharmacy contractors and other businesses, or unpaid prescription charges and dental care costs.
Craig Wilson, Managing Director of Private Sector at Sopra Steria, said: “We’re really pleased to have been successful through the framework and be able to provide such an important service. Every pound that goes back to the NHSBSA helps further its purpose of delivering business service excellence to the NHS to help people live longer, healthier lives.
“Central to our delivery is our commitment to provide a debt resolution service that identifies and supports vulnerable customers, offering practical support, advice and education, to help them build greater long term financial resilience.”
