London, 2 September 2025 Sopra Steria has gone live with a new service to support the Insolvency Service in the collection of monies due under income payment agreements/orders and to recoup money for the benefit of creditors and the UK taxpayer.

Sponsored by the Department for Business and Trade, the Insolvency Service is a government agency that delivers economic confidence by supporting those in financial distress, tackling financial wrongdoing, and maximising returns to creditors.

The new contract was awarded through the Crown Commercial Service Debt Resolution Services (DRS) framework following a competitive tender process. It will see Sopra Steria Financial Services provide market-leading debt collection services alongside its strategic partner, QUALCO UK, a specialist provider of panel management and analytics services in collections and recoveries.

The service includes:

  • The collection of monies due under income payments agreements/orders for the benefit of bankruptcy estates.
  • Recovering money from companies where the Insolvency Service has stepped in to protect employees by funding redundancy payments.
  • Recovering costs orders and compensation orders that have been awarded by the Court following investigation work.

The agreement with the Insolvency Service is part of Sopra Steria’s drive to transform debt resolution services, across both the public and private sectors, by focusing on cutting-edge technology and data-driven insights.

Craig Wilson, Managing Director of Private Sector at Sopra Steria, said: “We’re really pleased to have been selected to provide this important service alongside our partner QUALCO UK, which is helping to ensure that dishonest and fraudulent behaviour in the business world is held to account.

“By returning more money to the public purse we’re also helping the Insolvency Service to continue its vital work supporting vulnerable employees and other companies in the wider ecosystem.”

Georgina Maskell, Deputy Chief Operating Officer at the Insolvency Service, said: “This new partnership will mean that the Insolvency Service can continue to support those in financial distress and optimise returns to creditors. We look forward to working with Sopra Steria and their partners in the coming years.”

Christian Jacob, Managing Director at QUALCO UK, said: “Our new partnership with Sopra Steria is an important part of our drive to support the public sector to manage debt more effectively. We’re excited to be working with both the Insolvency Service and Sopra Steria to provide this vital service for the taxpayer.”
