London, 11 June 2026 – Sopra Steria, a major European technology player, today announced the appointment of Craig Wilson as Chief Executive Officer of its UK business.
Craig will join the Group Executive Committee and assume the role on 1 July 2026. Craig’s appointment is part of a planned leadership transition. He succeeds John Neilson, who will remain in an advisory role before retiring at the end of 2026, having led Sopra Steria UK since July 2020.
During John’s tenure, the UK business returned to sustained growth, strengthened its position in key markets and further developed its long-standing client relationships. As part of the succession plan, Craig was appointed Deputy CEO in January 2026, following eight successful years leading Sopra Steria’s Private Sector business in the UK. Prior to joining Sopra Steria, he spent 18 years in financial services leading large-scale transformation programmes.
As CEO, Craig will focus on accelerating growth in the UK, strengthening the Group’s position across its key markets and helping clients capture the opportunities created by AI, digital transformation, cyber security and next-generation business services.
Craig Wilson, incoming Chief Executive Officer of Sopra Steria UK, said:
“Sopra Steria is a business with strong foundations, great people and long-standing client relationships. What has always stood out to me is the commitment of our teams and the trust our clients place in us to deliver on some of their most important programmes.
“The opportunities ahead are significant. Organisations across both the public and private sectors are looking to improve performance, modernise operations and make the most of new technologies, especially AI. My focus will be on helping our clients achieve those outcomes while continuing to build a business where talented people can do their best work.”
Rajesh Krishnamurthy, Chief Executive Officer of Sopra Steria Group, said:
“I would like to thank John for his leadership and contribution over the past six years. He leaves the UK business in a strong position, with a talented team, trusted client relationships and good momentum for the future. Craig’s appointment is the result of a carefully planned succession process. He knows our clients, our markets and our business extremely well, and has a strong track record of delivery and growth. The UK is one of Sopra Steria’s most important markets, and I am confident Craig will successfully lead the next phase of its development.”
