We're delighted to announce that Tim Tomlinson, Executive Client Director for Financial Services at Sopra Steria, has been elected by industry peers and fellow members to join techUK's Financial Services Council.

The primary role of  techUK’s Financial Services Council is to provide guidance and direction to the work undertaken across the Financial Services & Payments Programme, its constituent groups and work streams. The Council is made up of the chairs and representatives from techUK member companies who have key expertise and a strong interest in long-term policy aims for the financial services sector.

Our involvement in such a network provides essential insight that informs our client collaborations, helping us to improve customer experiences and maintain high standards of regulatory compliance. The industry is facing significant challenges, with high inflation and rising interest rates fuelling the cost-of-living crisis, and the introduction of a new regulatory framework in the form of the Consumer Duty, making this council's formation critical. As well as Sopra Steria’s core work in this sector around data and analytics, business process outsourcing, digital transformation and debt management, Tim will also bring to the Council perspectives from our work around digital ethics and fraud detection.

Tim joined Sopra Steria in December 2022 as Executive Client Director for the financial services industry. In this role, Tim is responsible for the financial services go-to-market strategy across all Sopra Steria solutions, including outsourcing, debt management and consulting, helping our partners understand where our expertise lies and how they can benefit from it. He is focused on establishing long-term partnerships that deliver an excellent experience and the right outcomes for our clients and their customers.

Tim joined Sopra Steria from Arrow Global, where he established and led a number of outsourcing partnerships with some of the UK’s leading retail banks. Prior to Arrow, Tim worked at PwC for almost 10 years, most recently leading their UK business development team. The financial services industry has been a focus throughout his career, and he brings with him a wealth of practical experience in this market. Tim’s long-spanning career will no doubt be an asset to the council.  Tim provided an overview of his sentiments regarding his election to the Financial Services Council.

"I’m really pleased to have been selected to join techUK’s Financial Services Council. I’m looking forward to sharing insight with my peers, and contributing to techUK’s great work in this sector, especially at this challenging time for UK consumers and businesses."

We’re looking forward to supporting Tim in his new role on the techUK council and strengthening our relationships with the wider techUK community.
