A new partnership between digital transformation specialist, Sopra Steria, and the UK’s leading youth charity, The King’s Trust, is helping more young people to launch exciting new careers in the technology sector.
The ‘Get into Tech’ initiative was designed to help young people - particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds - access meaningful opportunities to develop new skills, enhance their career prospects, and ultimately secure sustainable
employment.
The four-week employability programme offered young jobseekers the chance to learn more about the tech industry and potential career paths in the sector, whilst also providing a route into Sopra Steria’s unique Digital Academy.
The Digital Academy offers on-the-job training with minimal barriers to entry, including no prerequisite qualifications or work experience, to enthusiastic individuals who are at the beginning of their working life, and those switching careers from other
industries and sectors.
Since its launch in 2023, around 150 talented academy recruits have been offered an unconditional permanent role at Sopra Steria in the UK.
Adrian Fieldhouse, Managing Director of Strategic Digital Solutions at Sopra Steria, said:
“We’re proud to partner with The King’s Trust and share its belief that a person’s background, or the challenges they face, shouldn’t prevent them from having an opportunity to succeed.
“Our co-designed ‘Get into Tech’ programme has been a real success and has meant we’ve been able to attract talented individuals, like Miira and Sharifa, which has helped us respond to the ever-increasing competition for talent
in the technology sector."
“Widening access to our Digital Academy via The King’s Trust has meant we can attract, develop and retain more of the best available talent, whilst meeting our commitment to support people from a diverse range of backgrounds to launch or change
their career.”
