Who we are and how we make a difference
Armed Forces Covenant
We are an Armed Forces Covenant signatory and were proud to be awarded Silver status under the Employer Recognition Scheme in 2020; a vote of confidence in our ongoing work to make our Armed Forces community engagement best practice.
We provide ten days of paid leave for Reservists to serve with their unit, in recognition of the important work that this community carries out for our country. If our Reservists are required to mobilise for extended deployments, we protect their employment
so that their role is there for them when they return.
Ex-Forces in Business
Sopra Steria sponsors the Ex-Forces in Business Awards, the world’s largest celebration of Veterans in second careers. Taking place in both London and Glasgow, the awards showcase the achievements of Veterans in civilian work and promote the strong
synergies between military values and business excellence.
Volunteering and Fundraising
We encourage employees’ volunteering and fundraising activities through paid leave and match funding. Thousands of pounds were raised for Armed Forces community charities in 2019 and work is in motion to go further, by offering the skills of our employees to military charities broadening opportunities for those in need.
Armed Forces Support Network
We have established an Armed Forces Support Network for employees, to provide fellowship for those who have experienced military life. The network allows employees to share exchanges in a supportive environment and provides help to those who need it.
Mo Ahmed, a Senior Management Consultant at Sopra Steria UK, has shared his inspirational career story with Ex-Forces in Business. A retired RAF Wing Commander, Mo writes about his significant achievements in military and civilian work, with highlights
including working on the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, receiving an MBE, briefing Pakistan’s military hierarchy and helping the Armed Forces improve its approach to diversity and inclusion.
Former Royal Marines commando and Sopra Steria Consultant Adam Ashe may have won the coveted ‘Ultimate Warrior’ at the Wounded Warrior Games, but his transition to civilian life hasn’t been without its challenges.
SSAFA is a charity that supports people at any stage in their military career; from the youngest recruit to the oldest veteran. Sopra Steria is very proud to support SSAFA’s VE Day fundraising by sponsoring and featuring in SSAFA’s official VE Day 75 commemorative album. SSAFA is offering free copies of this souvenir coffee-table book, published by the SJH Group. To order your free copy, paying only postage and packaging, visit: www.veday75.net
