Rupert was commissioned into The Queens’ Lancashire Regiment in 1984. He served in UK (including operations in NI) and Germany from 1984 until 1992. In 1994 he returned to RMCS as a student on the Design of Information Systems Course (MSc) followed by Army Staff Course, Camberley. He returned to 1 QLR in 1995 and served as a Company Commander. In 2001 he transferred to R SIGNALS. He commanded 243 Signal Squadron and on promotion to Lieutenant Colonel in Sep 2003 was the SO1 (W) Unified System Support Organisation (USSO). He was SO1 Requirements Manager in the Future Logistic Information Services (FLIS) Programme team in DE&S from Sep 06 until Sep 10. Between 2010 and 2015 he was the SO1 Information Infrastructure Group in the Command Support Development Centre (part of SOinC(A)) which became the Capability Directorate for Information in Army Headquarters.
Rupert has been working at Sopra Steria since October 2015 in a business development role in the Defence Sales Team.
