Richard Roberts

Community Impact Manager (UK)

Richard leads volunteering and fundraising across Sopra Steria’s UK organisation, with responsibility for ensuring opportunities are inclusive, accessible and aligned to the organisation’s Social Value priorities and client commitments.

He oversees the design and delivery of flagship programmes including Make a Difference Week, which coordinates national and local community activity, and Volunteer of the Year, recognising colleagues who make an outstanding contribution through volunteering and social impact initiatives. His work focuses on enabling high levels of colleague participation while clearly evidencing the collective impact generated through shared time, skills and expertise.

A core part of Richard’s role is embedding flexible, sustainable volunteering models that reflect the realities of busy professional lives. By removing barriers to participation and providing a clear framework for engagement, he supports colleagues to contribute in ways that are both meaningful and practical, while strengthening Sopra Steria’s Community Impact outcomes.

Richard began his career in teaching and later held the role of Head of Marketing and Communications at a hospice, bringing a strong understanding of community engagement, partnership working and purpose‑driven delivery into his work at Sopra Steria. He is experienced in turning ideas into structured programmes that create measurable social value and lasting benefit for communities.

Outside of work, Richard continues to volunteer with Cub Scouts as a leader and serves as a school governor. He has also supported the Salvation Army, the YMCA, and the RAF Air Cadets, where he served as a Sergeant, reflecting a lifelong commitment to community service.
