Climbing mountains to raise funds for our chosen local charity

Over the weekend of 12/13 September, 2015 a team of 13 from Sopra Steria Recruitment made it up and down Pen Y Fan, situated in the Brecon Beacons National Park, on our fundraising walk for Launchpad, Reading's Homeless Support Charity.

Our team ranged from ‘twentysomething’ to ‘old enough to know better’; from colleagues pushing 20 years' service to one who joined us only last month. This really did bring us all together.

SSR Team on Pen Y FanWe had a rainy start but the weather cleared as the day progressed and turned into perfect conditions for the climb. We all made the top of Pen Y Fan safely, after which most of us moved on to Corn Du whilst the faster and fitter took on the double challenge of Cribyn and Fan Y Big.

The overwhelming sense of achievement and amazing team spirit certainly made up for the aching muscles and tired bodies.

And will we be doing it again? Oh yes: we're setting a date for Spring 2016.

We did this walk to raise awareness and money for Launchpad, who provide an incredible support system to get people out of vulnerable situations and back into an independent life.

Sopra Steria Recruitment staff visited Launchpad's Reading office and experienced first hand the commitment and dedication of their incredible team. They are not there to provide hand-outs or to subsidise those who would rather be watching daytime TV. Their strategy is very much one of providing direction and manageable steps to those who are determined to forge a better future for themselves; so any donations really help them to make a difference.

Here is our just giving page. Please support us if you can.
