What does a typical day look like for you?

A typical day for me is usually spent carrying out work for the client. For me, this has involved undertaking project work from initial requirements gathering all the way through build, test and implementation of a new system…so my days can be pretty varied depending on what stage a project is at! A typical day could also be spent at base office working on internal projects, or attending one of the many training courses Sopra Steria provide!

What’s been your greatest achievement in your time with Sopra Steria so far?

My greatest achievement so far has definitely been my promotion. I felt I put in a lot of hard work during my first year at Sopra Steria and it felt really rewarding for that to be acknowledged.

What is it like working at Sopra Steria?

Sopra Steria is a great place to work – honestly! Currently I work between offices in London and Edinburgh, and all the people I have met have been friendly, approachable and encouraging. There is always the opportunity to meet new people, and to learn new skills, both in the office, and at one of the numerous social gatherings.

Being part of the graduate programme means that I have made friends with several others in my intake, across many varied streams, and we meet up regularly even now that we have been sent out on projects. Our Christmas party was a particularly good night!

The UX team in Sopra Steria is still fairly small, but we are a close team, and there is always something hilarious going on. We take time each week to reflect on the various projects we all work on, to share and critique each other’s work, and also to discuss some of the latest design trends. It’s a really great environment to work in.

What is it like working at Sopra Steria?

Working at Sopra Steria is thoroughly enjoyable and a welcoming place to be. From day one you feel relaxed and at home due to the great culture of the company and the friendliness of the workforce. Everybody including existing grads are willing and eager to help out which means you can get up to speed in no time!

How does Sopra Steria help you progress and develop?

When I first started, I attended an induction with all the other graduates. After this, a lot of my training was on the job, learning the financial systems and processes with the support of my line manager and other experienced finance employees. As part of my programme I am also working towards my CIMA qualification.

Tell me about the training you have received when you joined?

Most of my training was softskills, however I also took a number of external courses to help me develop Business Analysis skills. I worked closely with a senior BA to see what he does on his project and was given some mock scenarios to work on to see what it would be like once out on a client site.

What is it like working at Sopra Steria?

Working at Sopra Steria is extremely social. Everyone is very friendly and approachable. We have fun in the office, but somehow the work manages to get done on time to very high standards. Everyone helps each other and there is lots of learning and development along the way.
