The Sopra Steria India Foundation was founded in 2007 to provide education, training and employment opportunities to children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in schools located near the Sopra Steria sites in Chennai, Pune, and Noida.
We currently support projects in 69 schools across India, improving the lives of 70,000 children every single year. The Foundation provides students with a holistic education programme, working with children from the first time they enter primary school through university. We work with schools’ administrations, provide teachers, and involve parents and communities in our programmes.
The SSIF focuses on 3 areas:
We work within schools to help provide access to education and digital technologies for those from disadvantaged backgrounds, with a special emphasis on educating girls. For example, we fund solar-powered computer centres, smart classrooms and IT teachers; provide digital literacy and IT skills curriculum; run extra-curricular activities such as summer camps, health and hygiene courses, and personal safety education for girls.
We provide full university scholarships for outstanding students with financial need to allow them to attend university, run career development centres and vocational training courses. Currently over 550 students have attended university, and over 5000 have attended career development events.
By installing 8 water towers we are providing clean water to over 20,000 students and their families. We run relief and rehabilitation initiatives for communities affected by natural disasters, and provide access to healthcare such as immunisation through our health camps.
The Sopra Steria India Foundation has been recognised on numerous occasions through awards such as the Bombay Stock Exchange Social & Corporate Governance Award for Best CSR Practice, and Best CSR Practice Award from CMO Asia, Asian Confederation of Businesses & World CSR Day.
