Global leaders in the fight against climate change and protecting the environment

Ranked in the top 2% of companies globally for managing our greenhouse gas emissions, we ensure that we’re reducing our negative impact on the environment while leading the way in sustainability.

We are CarbonNeutral®

We’re proud to be certified CarbonNeutral® for our offices, data centres and business travel.  Where possible, we use renewable energy to avoid emissions of greenhouse gases – and we offset the emissions that we cannot avoid by sponsoring clean energy programmes - renewable energy plants in India, for example.

We manage our environmental impacts using an Environmental Management System (EMS) certified to ISO14001:2015.

Emissions, Energy and Business Travel

We recognise the global challenges we all face with climate change.  Two years ago, we set ourselves targets for reducing our emissions that were consistent with limiting the rise in average global temperatures to 2 degrees.

While this is a good target, we knew we could do more.  Therefore, we have just committed ourselves to the reductions required to limit the rise to 1.5 degrees.

So far we have:

  • Reduced our GHG emissions per employee by 29% since 2015
  • Acquired 78% of our electricity from renewable sources in 2018

We reduce, reuse and recycle.  This helps us decrease the natural resources we use and the emissions we produce, while conserving energy and landfill space.  Our zero-waste-to-landfill and single-use plastic campaigns ensure that our company and our employees are aware of the importance of waste disposal and the effects that it has on the environment.

The CDP rewards the Group for its action in the fight against climate change.

The CDP rating is the international benchmark for corporate environmental transparency.

Inclusion in the "A List" for the fourth consecutive year rewards the company for pursuing an ambitious environmental sustainability programme as part of its wider Corporate Responsibility strategy and making climate action "business as usual" in its operations, supply chain and services to clients.

Our triple CarbonNeutral® certifications – in office space, data centres and business travel - make the GHG emissions from Sopra Steria’s services net zero.

We congratulate Sopra Steria on having its target approved and demonstrating that it takes a forward-thinking approach to business.  It joins some of the world’s leading companies in recognising that taking action now to cut emissions is the best way to future-proof growth in the transition to the low-carbon economy.
