Digital transformation can be everyone’s cup of tea

| minutes read

Businesses are losing momentum with digital transformation, having focused on only part of the bigger picture. The good news? It doesn’t have to be that way.

Digital transformation has been an area of intense focus for UK businesses. But although that’s the case, not everybody is achieving success. Organisations are gradually becoming time poor, priorities have been misplaced, skills are lacking and expectations aren’t being matched by reality.

How do we know this?

To better understand what business leaders really think about digital transformation and why these challenges are occurring, we commissioned a a research study of over 400 UK directors. The findings are telling.

One of the most eye-catching statistics is that 58% of respondents think people in their organisation still don’t really understand what digital transformation is.

This has led to 61% of UK businesses admitting they’ve focused too much on technology and not enough on people and culture. It’s also likely to be why as many as 59% of the businesses we spoke to are losing momentum with digital transformation. Meanwhile, only 1 in 5 say their transformation efforts are delivering all the outcomes they need.

It’s clear that UK businesses must focus on what really matters to build the momentum that will accelerate transformation. Effective digital change requires a cultural shift – and a more digital way of working across the entire business. It needs a digital mindset where everyone is aligned to one clear business strategy, with a defined plan of action to drive change.

So – how can it be achieved?
