John Neilson is CEO for Sopra Steria UK and Asia, accountable for all strategic and business operations. John has been with Sopra Steria for over 20 years. Prior to becoming CEO, John was Deputy CEO and was also responsible for all of Sopra Steria’s Public Sector businesses including our joint venture businesses.
In 2013 John became the CEO of SSCL, Sopra Steria’s unique joint venture with the Cabinet Office, overseeing significant revenue growth and the establishment of a new shared service platform that has delivered over £300m of savings to its clients. SSCL has expanded its reach from Central Government into Police and Defence, supporting the largest government departments, the Metropolitan Police and the Ministry of Defence and operating at an unprecedented size and scale.
John has also been CEO of NHS Shared Business Services (Sopra Steria’s joint venture with the Department of Health and Social Care) since 2009, now widely recognised as the market leader in business support services across the NHS.
Previously John led Steria’s Global Delivery operations for the UK and India, responsible for providing infrastructure solutions that improved cost and service quality for Steria and its customers. John has also held the position of Director of Human Resources at Steria prior to the merger and creation of Sopra Steria. John has also run his own successful business providing HR and change management consultancy services to a diverse range of clients both in the UK and Europe.
