Sopra Steria is excited to join organisations around the world celebrating International Women's Day 2018

   7 March, 2018:

We live and work in a diverse society where people from a wide variety of different backgrounds contribute to our culture, economy and business. Diversity improves business outcomes in many ways, for example, by making us more innovative and improving governance. Sopra Steria are proud to continue supporting initiatives, including the upcoming International Women’s Day, that inspire us both in our professional and personal lives.

Marked since the early 1900s, International Women’s Day is a global day to recognise the economic, social and cultural contributions of women while also raising awareness of gender disparity. This year’s campaign theme is #PressForProgress - a call for people to help forge a better working world and a more gender inclusive world.

On Thursday 8 March, we will join the global conversation to #PressForProgress in gender diversity and discuss how industries benefit from the representation of women.

We will be celebrating International Women’s Day  once again this year by hosting events across the UK to support the continuing to push for diversity and the benefits of inclusion. These events are open to all and will have speakers from a variety of sectors and backgrounds.

Across the UK, only 17% of the people working in our industry are women. Sopra Steria is currently ahead of the industry trend with 33% of our workforce being female - while we recognise this achievement, it is also a reminder that continued progress needs to be made.

Sopra Steria’s Karen Finn, HR Director saidInternational Women’s Day is a great way for us to highlight our commitment to diversity and women in technology. Sopra Steria continues to make exciting progress from recently signing the Tech Challenge Charter, setting up our Women’s Network last year, to 47% of our latest graduate intake being female. We are ensuring that we have ongoing discussions and action off the back of important days like International Women’s Day.”
