North East Lincolnshire Council awards ICT transformation support contract to Sopra

North East Lincolnshire Council has awarded Sopra a three year contract to deliver ICT transformation support for strategic design and governance across the council.  The contract will enable the council to effect a 'digital by default' philosophy, delivering an intelligence rich, information led and highly efficient organisation.

The contract will also help deliver the Council's major transformation programme, encompassing a range of projects where ICT will underpin, support and enable the strategic objectives of the organisation and its partnerships to be met.

Paul Hudson, ICT Group Manager, said: "the new approach is to start from what we want to achieve as an organisation and not what systems we need to buy. The Council also intends to achieve a close alignment of 'people, process and technology' in the modernisation of the way it operates."

Sopra will deliver technical consultancy for six projects, focusing on business advice and skills to cover infrastructure and delivery models, ICT governance, customer-focused ICT, intelligent information, value from documents and mobile and remote solutions.

Cllr Darren Billard, portfolio holder for Finance and Governance, added:
"it's important we look at the best value for money we're able to achieve and we're pleased to have awarded the contract to a group we feel can help in those aims in terms of ICT delivery.''

The projects will support the in-house Council teams by providing a range of technical consultancy, business advice and skills to help shape internal discussions and recommend 'best in class' solutions for strategic design and governance. This will be followed by procurement activities for technology, tools and solutions whilst co-ordinating and providing strategic guidance and cohesion across the delivery activities and projects overall.

Alison McLaughlin, Sopra's Head of Public Sector and Utilities stated: "North East Lincolnshire understands that ICT is an enabler of strategy and that it has the ability to transform the way the council's services are organised and delivered. This award demonstrates Sopra's clear understanding of how to address the challenges that local authorities are facing across the UK. We look forward to a close and successful working partnership with the Council for many years to come."
